Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra XUV700

Experience: Buying & living with my

Who is this review for?

Anyone who wants to buy the XUV700 but is paranoid about the numerous issues and niggles. It might give them a perspective of what the niggles are, how much they stuff and whether or not it is likely to live with the Mahindra XUV700 AWD AX7L:

Mahindra XUV700 AWD AX7L:

Pros:

·    Powerful responsive engine

·    Torque converter AT works well and permanently keeps you in the rev variety.

·    Turbo pause, or rather the lack of it, is well-masked.

·    Spacious interiors. Accessible front seats and one of the best middle-row seats lower the Rs.50 lac mark.

·    The suspension is super- fantastic ride and handling, good ride luxury.

·    Headlights are some of the best in commercials, with excellent nighttime visibility.

·    Good fuel economy, already achieving figures of 13+ km on the highway, even with spirited driving. It should increase further after the first service.

·    ADAS systems work as claimed is a boon to have.

·    The sunroof is humongous, and you must sit inside the car to see it yourself.

·    The car feels safe with seven airbags, all the safety essentials, and ADAS.

·    Build quality is excellent; sturdy is the word.

·    The engine tends to get too vocal, especially under hard rushing.

·    Not ample space in the boot with all three commotions active.

·    Countryside-like auto-ORVM and ventilated seats are a must at this price point.

·    Suspension noise is on the higher side.

·    The brakes are very noisy, like a gorilla howling level loud.

·    Some other mechanical thuds and sounds make their way into the cabin.

·    A few keys lack good tactile response and don't make an effort in one click/push a lot of eras.

·    Many changes are not located very well- power window switches, door lock/unlock, AWD appointment switch (you want to take your eyes off to involve this one).

·    Auto up-down spaces should have been standard for all four gaps.

·    Some plastics on the control panel feel economical and out of the home.

·    Serial turn indicators at the tail-light should have been standard; the ones there might not be as visible, especially during the day.

Disclaimer:

This is not a usual review about XUV700, and I am trying to depict the car overall; unlike light, consuming bought the vehicle with complete information of the issues, niggles and shortcomings. Hence, I will summarise a digestible decision at the end of the review. Also, this is part travelogue, part early possession review since we set off for the journey the next day we got the car. However, by the end of the study, we would have driven the car 2300 km within 14 days of receiving the vehicle, so it fairly sums up the initial feel and response.

If you'd like to find my decisions and not do the trial of analysis so much, satisfy skip to my third and fifth (last) posts.

Finalizing the car and taking delivery:

I booked XUV 700 on 8th October 2021 in the AWD AX7L Trim (Midnight Blue). Although I was accessible to transfer around the first week of June 2022, I fell due to the many niggles and breakdowns, and who wouldn't have. One guise at the dozens of comments, posts and youtube videos was enough to make one paranoid about the carriage.

Then I started looking at other options, containing an array of cars across different brands- Toyota Fortuner (one of the forerunners), Jeep Range & Height, Skoda Kodiaq, Ford Endeavour (used options), etc. At this time, I realised that no SUV (especially seven-seaters) offer as much bang for the buck. If you go over any other choices, you not only spend more but also compromise on many things: driving pleasure, economical to operate, middle-row luxury, consistency and even looks. This, joined with the recent information Mahindra had done to fix the subjects, helped us gather the daring to consider XUV700 over.

We contacted the SA at our local seller on 15th September 2022, and a couple of days later, he called us to say that there was a termination for an AWD AX7L in Night Blue Color (what are the odds- you get your desired colour and model in a car like XUV). Most people who had booked AWD want to also save money by receiving Diesel AT in its place or have shifted to Scorpio-N. He told us to decide on a similar day before another SA allocates the car to someone else. We immediately agreed, the only request from his side being that we get a car loan and insurance from them before they get their incentives, which seemed reasonable. He promised delivery during the upcoming Navratra.

On 26th September, we got a call from the SA that our car had inwards in their yard, but they won't be talented at bringing it that day due to a long queue of vehicles for delivery. We finally got the car on the 27th late evening, around 8.30 pm; we were
