Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Variants, Features Explained

Jimny 5-door pricing will be announced in May 2023; it gets a single 1.5-litre petrol engine and comes in two versions.

The highly anticipated Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door made its global debut at Auto Expo 2023. The 5-door model will go on sale in India in May 2023, followed by other markets.

In addition to the rugged body-on-frame construction, the Jimny features Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD technology. Regarding powertrains, Maruti opted for the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, which produces 105 hp and 134 Nm of torque. It also features mild hybrid technology and is mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

The Jimny comes in just two versions, Zeta and Alpha. The final has all the bells and whistles, including automatic headlights, SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, automatic climate control and Arkamys sound system. However, a suite of safety features, including six airbags, ESP and hill start assist, come as standard. The Jimny is also available in seven colour options, including two two-tone.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door: launch, reservations and rivals

Maruti Suzuki has ingrained that it will launch the 5-door Jimny in May 2023. Reservations for the SUV open today and will be sold through Maruti's Nexa dealerships. With a likely price of Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom), the 5-door Jimny will go up against the upcoming Thar and Gurkha 5-door SUVs.

Production and sales of the fourth-generation Jimny began in Japan in 2018, followed by exports to Europe and Oceania. It was well received by people all over the world. In November 2020, production of the Jimny began in India exclusively for export to regions such as Latin America and Africa.

The fourth generation Jimny will be first introduced in the Indian market as the new 5-door Jimny. It is a new specification with newly installed rear doors for a 5-door layout and special rear seats and interior trim adopted in the backspace. The 5-door Jimny will deliver the driving performance that customers expect from a true SUV, just like the 3-door Jimny.
